Layout for the "Strut Your Cuts" Challenge over at Scrappy-Go Lucky week 6. This layout is using Tinkerbell and Friends. This picture of my Great-Niece Cadence was taken last year at Epcot's Flower Festival. I've been meaning to get it scrapped BUT I "hate" piecing those little fairies!!! So again this challenge was a good kick in the butt to get a much needed layout done. I LOVE how it came out.

Ruffled Baby Dress

A few weeks ago my Mom prints off this crochet pattern and hands it to me. She said why don't you make one like this. I quickly read the pattern and thought that looks a bit hard, I put it aside. Last week we made a Hobby Lobby run, I thought let me get some yarn and try that dress. I think this is now my new favorite crochet pattern! It worked up really easy. This one is for my Best Friends Daughter (my fake Niece Sam's baby girl Sophia.) For those that don't know my "real" Niece Becky is expecting a girl in April and my "fake" Niece Sam is expecting a girl in March ( actually I've already called it she is going to be born on my birthday). I've already made them each a blanket, a dress, and a few diaper covers. This is where I got the pattern ... Ruffled Baby Dress.

HUGS and KISSES for Cadence

Another layout for the challenge over at "Scrappy-Go-Lucky" Strut Your Cuts where they give you a list of 5 cartridges every week and you have to use only those cartridges for your layout. I've done one every week and it has really been fun. Sometimes VERY challenging because the cartridge I had from the list had no font on them to use for a title but it really made me look at the layout in a different light. It has gotten me to do layouts that have been needing to get done and MOST of all it is getting me to use my cartridges!!!

This week the only one I had from the 5 was Paisley. I've had this cartridge for about a year now and have not made a single cut from it. Whenever I think about that cartridge the image of the nesting dolls come to mind. BUT when I took a look at it this week I was surprised at how many CUTE images there were on it. Two layouts came to mind to do BUT as life happens for me this has not been a good week. My vertigo has been off the charts and no crafting happened. All day yesterday I kept thinking I NEED to get at least one done but I had a migraine that I could not shake. I went to bed early hoping that this morning I could get it done...since the time difference between Florida and Australia I had a little less than 3 hours to get it done then blogged....tick tick tick....

Here it the layout....I still need to journal on it but I wanted to make sure I got it before the deadline...tick tick....

Valentines for Cadence

For all who don't know, Cadence is my 4 year old Great-Niece. Her Grandmother is my younger sister and her father is my Nephew. My sister is 8 years younger than I am, I have 1 older brother and 2 younger brothers by the time she came along I wanted a sister so bad. I even told my Mom that if it was another boy I was going to run away from home. *smile don't know where I would have gone but I guess in my 8 year old brain anyplace was better than home with 4 brothers* My Nephew is 6 months younger than my middle son Jon and they were joined at the hip growing up, so much so that one year I teased my sister that I was going to claim my Nephew on my taxes that year. I said all that to explain that she belongs to two very important people in my life and I see both of them in her. In fact the first time I changed her I looked at her and said "I used to change your Grandma's diapers and it sure didn't seem like 40 years ago". Her father is in the Army deployed to Afghanistan at the time. To help her mom out Cadence spend a lot of time with my Mom and I, even more reason that I'm extremely close to her. *as you can probably tell scrolling through my blog of all the scrapbook pages I do of her*

So back to the Valentine's....I saw this idea in magazine in my doctor's office then again on Pinterest.

Ironman Layouts

Last year in May my middle son Jon did the Rohto Ironman 70.3 out at Ft.Wilderness Disney World. This was his first Ironman 70.3. I am just now getting around to scrapping this event for him. I got the kick in the butt that I needed from the "Strut Your Cuts Challenge" over at Scrappy-Go-Lucky. This is week four in the challenge. It has really helped me get some layouts done. So far I have done 25 for the year.

Pattern Paper: Bike Paper is by Paper Loft "Red Bicycle". Runner Paper is by Karen Foster "Runner Blocks". Born to Run Paper is by Karen Foster "Persistence Pays Off". The Ironman 70.3 and the First 70.3 paper is the Custom Triathlon Paper from Scrap Your Trip. I got both of the Karen Foster paper from SYT also. Small piece of notebook paper is from Creative Memories.
Cricut: Sports Mania Cartridge... Swimmer pg. 68 cut at 3.5"x2 ( I sized on my gypsy to fit area)...runner page 46 frame feature cut at 2.5"...Clipboard page 72 shift cut at 2.75" I cut it twice out of two different paper then cut out the "clip" part. I then cut the "notebook paper" to fit the space to write his stats on it.

I was excited to see the cartridge "Sports Mania" listed as one of the 5 cartridges on the challenge over at Scrappy-Go-Lucky Strut Your Cuts...where you are challenged to use your cartridges. I have been needing a BIG KICK IN THE BUTT to work on some layouts for my son Jon. He runs in marathons and did an Ironman last year that I have not scrapped yet. First Layout is a page for his BIB NUMBERS and then a POCKET PAGE for his bib numbers. I did the Bib Numbers page so he could write his stats on the journal spaces.

I made this layout for a challenge over at Scrappy-Go-Lucky Blog, Called strut your cuts where you are challenged to use your cartridges. The only one I had on the list was "B is for Boy". It was not until this afternoon that a layout came to mind so I missed the deadline in playing along but I went ahead and made my layout anyway as that is what this challenge is about to me....GETTING LAYOUTS MADE :).

This is for my middle son Jon's album. Jon's album was the first one I did when I started scrapping. He was graduating from high school that spring and I made it for his graduation party. Because it was my first and BEFORE my Cricut his pages are not my best, something he reminds me when he looks at it. I have decided that over time I will redo the pages but also keep the original ones to remind me how far I have come in my scrapping.

The story behind the pictures is: On Christmas Eve 2001 as we were getting ready to sit down for family Christmas eve dinner Jon and his Cousin Josh were out in the street jumping ramps with their bikes. Jon wiped-out and this was the result. The pictures were taken the next day, Christmas morning. The next day he left to go march in the Peach Bowl Parade in Atlanta, GA with his High School band. The day of the parade his face was so swollen that his eyes were about shut BUT he still marched! Things memories are made of!

Cricut: B is for Boy Band-aids cut at 2.5" and 3" because it didn't have a shadow feature I hand cut one myself. Owie is cut at 2.75" and then at 3" for a shadow.

First Bath

Supplies Used:

Cardstock: Plain Cardstock Coredinations, pink cardstock on bathtub is from a stack that I've had forever, it was already embossed with tiny dots.

Pattern Paper: The bubble paper is some I have had and it does not have any brand on it and I'm not even sure where I got it. One of those papers that when I saw it I "knew would be good for a baby's bath layout".

Cricut: Elegant Edges, Dots 1, Page 34 cut "fit to page" for the bubble paper then the white frame was the frame feature.

Baby Steps for the bathtub cut at 4". The" first" was cut from "first tooth" page 33 phrase and phrase layer. I then cut off the tooth part but left a little bit to layer the bath on. The "bath" was cut from "bubble bath" page 38 phrase and phrase feature with the bubble cut off. I then layers both together.

I then cut another "foamy bubble" to cover her nakedness.

Misc: Liquid Glass to glaze the letters and bubbles

Birthday Cards From Birthday Cards

I had a box of greeting cards that I bought a few years back from a school fund raiser. You know the ones that you buy because you love your Nieces and Nephews not because you want the cards. I think I bought them even before I started making cards, being the type pf person that doesn't like to throw out something that "might be" used "someday". Well that "someday" came yesterday when I was cleaning out and I really had to make a decision about them. I know that my friends and family expect a homemade card from me and if I gave them a store bought one they would be offended. I decided that I would "play" with them and see what I could come up with. Here are my cards from cards....

Used some of "scraps" for the background. Fussy cut the Bear & Sentiment. Added ribbon.

Had 2 of these cards so I cut out the first background, then cut just the flower of the second one and pop-dotted that one. Cut out sentiment and put it on a strip of the background paper. I computer generated the sentiment on the inside, which reads "Grow Wild".

Another Layout for the "Strut Your Cuts" Challenge over at this blog. The challenge is to use your cartridges. This is my second layout of the week using the "Graphically Speaking" cartridge.

MY youngest son, Benjamin, LOVES Shrek so when he found out that Ice this year was going to be Shrek themed he wanted to go so he bought tickets to take me for a day out for my Christmas present. After seeing the Ice show we hung out at the hotel for a while seeing all the other Christmas decorations then he took me out to lunch, we even hit Ikea on the way home.

Plain cardstock is from a stack that I bought a while back that is textured. I don't have the cover so I don't know who makes it.
The shiny plain white and blue that is used in the title and for the photo mats are from a stack called "Effects Papercrafts" by Canson. I got it at Michaels about 2 years ago.
The pattern paper is from "Me & My Big Ideas" Modern Milan stack.

I had to take a few days off of making layouts. This is what happens in my life, I get on a roll then my vertigo kicks in. I had to take it easy for a few days or else I would end up spinning so bad that I would wind up in bed for days :(.

I took a break from Cadence's baby album to make this Layout. I'm going to try and play along with the challenge over on this blog to use your carts. One of the choices this week was Graphically Speaking. When this cart came out I wanted it so bad but I've only used it a few times. I looked through the book tonight and two Layouts came to mind.

Day three of the New Year and here is Layout 3 & 4. This is My Great-Niece Cadence's Baby Shower.
The plain cardstock is Doodlebug. The Pattern paper is DaisyD. The banner triangles are cut from George and Basic Shapes they are cut at 2" and 1.5". The letters are cut from Jasmine at 2" and 1.5". The "invite" and umbrella are cut from New Arrival. The invite is Card 3 feature the umbrella is circle feature.

I used sketch #218 from Sketch Inspirations.

This is Cadence's (my Great-Niece) Mom when she was 6 months pregnant with her and Papa being silly on Christmas day 2007. The plain colored cardstock is Coredinations. The pattern paper "It's a Girl" is Paper Pizizazz the other pp is from my stash and I don't know who made it. The two large flowers are Primas. The "Baby Baby" cut is from New Arrival, it is the "Baby Shower" cut, I stopped the cricut after it cut baby. It is cut at 4" and shadowed. The journaling font is Limerick from "Free Font Fridays" at Creating Keepsakes.

I used Sketch Inspirations Sketch #252.

New Year New Commitment To Scrap More

Since I am the "family" scrapper it is up to me to make all the Layouts for every ones scrapbooks. Saying that I should be making a page a day to even keep up with the current memories let alone go back and "catch-up" with my son's albums (they are 26, 24 and 21), my nieces and nephews (who range from 24 to 10) and then there is my great-niece, well she is just another story. Saying that I my goal this year to get get current with my Great-Niece's album and keep current with the new addition that is joining our family in April. (hint hint Becky it is your job to get the pictures to me).

Here is the first Layout of the year...It is for Cadence's book. "Mom 2 Be" I used the sketch from Sketch Inspiration. The plain cardstock is Recollections from Michaels. The pattern paper is from a stack, but I don't know which one, I received it in a paper swap. The "Mom 2 Be" is cut from Jasmine at 2.5" and shadowed. The mommy is from New Arrivals cut at 6". The font on the journaling is called baby bug and it is one of the Friday Free Fonts from Creating Keepsakes. I love their fonts.

Have not Been Scrapping Lately BUT.....

Lately I have been crocheting...It seems that I tend to do that this time of year....last year I made a bunch of little kid hats....so far this year I'm on a baby blanket kick....I have two Niece's that are expecting babies in the Spring. When I started making the blankets we had not found out what the babies are so I started with the "boy" colors, mostly because I found these colors that I fell in love with.

This one is a 5 Point Star...the pattern is one of those free pages that you find hanging by the yarn in JoAnns...you can find it on Bernat.com put in Star Blanket in the search. It is really easy to do.

This one is a 12 Point Star Blanket...It was a free pattern from Ravelry.com. It is called Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket by Celeste Young. Again this one was an easy one to do.

This one is called Ripples of Joy....It is from a book called Circular Baby Afgans by Leisure Arts. Another easy one.

One BIG Mistake I Felt I Made As A Mom...

The only post I have ever made so far on my blog have been about my crafting, mostly the cards that I have made and my scrapbook pages. Lately I've been reading a few of my crafting buddies blogs where they have posted some personal "insights" or other personal details Reading them made me think about some things and go "Ummmmmm".

One was this one where she talked about her Momma...Nothin' Fancy. This one where a good friend talked about the challenges her daughter faced the first day of kindergarten being she is a special needs child...Leah's First Day Of Kindergarten...

So this story about a tragic end to a young girl's life has been on my mind for the last few days...so I thought I would share it with my blogging buddies. People that know me know I'm a news junkie. I love to watch the news...I watch the morning news, the evening news and if I'm still up the late news. So on Thursday I am watching the evening news and there was a story about a young girl that was found unresponsive in her college dorm room then was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. It was just another tragic story until about an hour later when I read on Facebook that she had just graduated from the same high school that my Step-daughter had attended, she had been friends with my Step-daughter and had even came to our house for one of her birthday parties...that put a face to the story. Reading more about it I found she was a Freshman at the college that my youngest son attends. Classes had just started on Monday so in her hurry to "live the college life" she did not even make it through the first week. Results are still pending on how she died but it is suspected that alcohol was involved. She had attended a party at a fraternity house earlier that night and it is thought alcohol was there. Another twist to this story is the fraternity house that the party was at was the same one that my middle son had applied for and gotten the job of house dad but after some soul searching turned it down.

I'm rambling but now to one reason it has been on my mind. The one regret I have looking back on raising my sons is I allowed them to drink before they were 21. I felt that what was the harm? I think I wanted them to feel grown-up. I regret that now. I wish I had instead explained the law to them and the reason the law was there and made my expectation known to them that I expected them to follow the law. I count myself lucky that nothing happened to my sons because of my mistake in parenting. Again people who know me might find this a bit strange because it is not my habit to drink. I'm not against it, I just never has been a part of my life. I don't keep it in the house and as a regular habit I don't order a drink when I go out.

My heart goes out to her family. I look back to the days of getting my sons ready to go off to college and how that whole summer I was consumed on getting the stuff he need to set up his dorm room. I can't imagine helping your daughter set up her first dorm room only to have something like this happen before the first week of school is even over.

I feel that if we don't send a clear message to our children about how easy it is to drink too much then it is easy for them to feel it is okay to break this law (as long as they can get away with it what's the harm, right?). Do we spend too much time talking about the dangers of drinking and driving that they think it's okay as long as I'm not driving.

While children are resilient and seems to do okay even though we make mistakes, in my opinion I think this is one can really do some long lasting harm. I count my blessing that despite my mistake in this area my sons have turned out the be fine young men.

I don't often remake a layout, but after I made this one of my Great-Niece Cadence it just did not "set" well with me. It just kept bugging me.

So today I made a second one and I have to say I'm glad that I did. I LOVE how this one came out.
The plain cardstock is Coredinations. The pattern paper is from a pack that I got from the dollar store when I first started scrapping * I thought it was awesome paper....little did I know back then*...the butterflies are K&Company the gemstones are Martha Stewart. The title is cut using my cuttlebug an alphabet (curls and swirls) that I bought a few years ago and this is the first time I used it. I like how it came out, I think this layout called for a "pretty" "clean" alphabet.

First Day of High School

Say it ain't so!!! My Beautiful Niece Sarina that turned 14 yesterday, started High School this last Tuesday. Seems like it was just yesterday that we were all standing at the glass hospital window looking at that "little" 10 pound newborn baby girl. NOW HIGH SCHOOL????

The LO was inspired by one in the September 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes on page 62. The yellow plain cardstock is coredinations. The blue pattern paper is from the starry night collection from Karen Foster. The paper that looks like notebook paper is from my stash and I have no idea where it came from. The ruler ribbon and stickers I've had forever. The brads that look like apples are Recollections from Michaels.

In just 4 short years I need to have her album(s) ready for her Graduation party so Mamma you better start looking through her pictures now because before you know it it will be here!

I made this card for my second cousin that just had a baby girl. I started with a green cardstock base. The next layer of paper is the pink and green paisley print paper, it is made by Making Memories from the Simply Fabulous line called Brooke Paisley. I then printed the background outdoor-scape from the Cricut Imagine Nursery Tails Cart bonus content paper...I sized it at 6". The baby buggy is a Target Gift Card pop dotted on the paper. The extra embilishments are ribbon, a heart brand and a sun gromment.

"Make A Wish"

I've been busy lately and not been scrapping like I should have been. Today I finally found my mojo and some time and got this LO done.

More pages for my Nephew's Scrapbook. These pictures are from his 12th birthday...the background paper that I used was really "busy" and normally I would have used it but I think it went so well with the theme of his birthday decorations. Page 1 is done from a sketch from Sketch Inspirations sketch #217. I fussy cut one of the fish and pop dotted it. The "Make A Wish" is the font from A Child's Year Cart. I used the Cricut Craftroom to weld the letters. It was the first time I used the Cricut Craftroom and thought it went well. The candle is from a birthday kit I bought from Creative Memories several years back. Page 2 is all done by fussy cutting the background paper. That paper was from a stack I bought years ago....I want to say it is a DCWV but I could not tell you for sure or even which one. All the plain colored cardstock is from DCWV.

THREE POINTS it is!!! This picture of Sean was taken at my brother's house. I don't know the story behind it yet but I think it's the cutest picture.

This was a very easy page using the Sports Mania Cartridge. This is the first time I've used the "page feature" from this cartridge. I really like how it turned out. I used my gypsy to size the basketball hoop so it would fit on the cut out on the page.

The paper is all DCWV plain cardstock.

I was able to accomplish 10 pages this weekend!!! That's a good thing since I'm under such a time crunch...he graduates the end of May and my goal is to have 50 pages done for him!!! That works out to abut 5 pages a week. These are all from a family vacation that we took in June of 2000 to BEAUTIFUL Destin FL. Here is a supply list that I used on them...most of the plain colored cardstock is either DCWV or Core'dinations. The pattern paper on the first 2 pages I just got this week from Michaels (did not write down who makes it) I usually don't buy paper like this anymore but I knew my LO was going to be simple and I thought that this paper was perfect for it. The other pattern paper is some I bought when I first started scrapping and thought I needed to buy all the "pretty" paper out there (especially beach paper since we live in Florida) , there are brad buddies on 2 of the pages. The cuts are from Life's a Beach cartridge. I think that just about covers it...if not and you REALLY want to know who makes it leave a comment and I'll let you know :)

Birthday Card for My Sister-In-Law

Happy Birthday to my wonderful sister-in-law Janie. My middle brother Gerald started dating Janie when he was 15. They dated through high school and college and then got married right after college... I have known Janie longer than I've not known her and she is such a wonderful sister.

Now on to the card details...The cat is Loralie fabric that I rough cut out the figure then glue it to white cardstock with regular white glue, after it is dried I detail cut it out. The plain card stock is Coredinations Black Magic. The gate cut is from "Ornamental Iron" cartridge, I got this cartridge from my BFF for my birthday. She said she bought it because she knew it would be one that I would use but would not buy for myself she is probably right!!! I love it and can see lots of uses for it....the flowers and the BIG Brads I got from Paper Wishes. The "celebrate" is a rub-on that I've had forever!

I've been busy working on Sean's Album this weekend. I made two quick pages using paper I had in my stash....The one with the crosse net is made by wubie prints I double matted the photos and cut the ball out of a second pages and pop dotted it to give the page some dimension.

"Batter Up" Page Solid cardstock DCWV, pattern paper...the brown with the words is Scrappin Sports & More..the one with the baseballs is Francis Meyer. The batter up was cut using the Sports Mania cart. the stickers on the tickets are an assortment from my stash. The Tickets were formed using my Stampin'Up ticket punch. The stamp on the first ticket was from a set of stamps sent to my from my BFF in Australia :) by Kaiser Craft called memory boxes.

I am making a scrapbook for my Nephew Sean. As the family scrapbooker it has become a tradition that I make each of my Nieces and Nephews a Scrapbook when they graduate from High School. My Nephew Sean graduates from High School this year so now it is his turn. I'm under a bit of a deadline so you will be seeing a lot of Sean in the coming weeks.

This a picture of him dressed in his sister's tutu. His sister is 4 years older than him and is like his second mommy. She was playing dress-up one day and decided he would be cute to dress up also.

The black cardstock is DCWV, the pattern paper is from a stack from Scrapworks called "Formal Affair". The Tutu is cut from the "Once Upon A Princess Cartridge". The journaling is computer generated, the font is a Free Font from Creating Keepsakes from the Free Font Fridays this is the font for this week. The font I used is called CK Stylish Black. The ribbon is some I had.

I made this card for a little friend of mine that turned 5 last week. The card is a "Stair-Step" card. Winter Park Art Festival 2011

Today I went to the Winter Park Art Festival, you can read about the festival here. It is the 52nd Festival and I have probably been to half of them. It is one of my favorite things to do in my hometown of Winter Park. I LOVE going to see the different kinds of art, browse the sidewalk sales, and grab a funnel cake. This year I was able to go on a Friday, which was wonderful as it was less crowded and I was able to see more of the booths. The Florida weather was awesome today. We had a beautiful spring day with a sunny sky and temps in the low 80's. My festival buddies were my Great-Niece Cadence and my mom. I'm usually NOT this good about getting a LO done the same day that I took the pictures, in fact this might be a first. This LO was super easy as I used a program that I picked up at the festival. Every year an artist is chosen to make a poster to advertise the show. They then sell T-Shirts of the poster art. The poster was on the front page of the program so I used it on the first page along with the pictures of Cadence wearing her new WPSAF T-shirt. On page two the 52 Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival title and the "Hey Kids" was also cut from the program. The journaling is computer generated. The plain colored cardstock is Core'dantions, the pattern paper is Kay&CO Wild Raspberry stack.

So Many March Birthdays

March has so many birthdays in it for me. I have 1 sister and 3 brothers and there are 3 of our birthdays in one week in March. My middle brother Gerald's (Ger) birthday comes first on the 8th. He is very active and just this last year competed in an Iron Man. I got this free download from Persnickety Prints for digi scrapping. I have not figured out digi scrapping but I'm grabbing all the free downloads that I can so I'm ready to roll when I do learn. I was able to print it out one of the elements to make this spinner card. The cardstock is Corediantions. The "track" that the spinner spins in, is punched using a Stamping Up Punch. I first drew a line where I wanted the track to be then I punched it out one whole length then went back and punched it a second time so it would be wider. The inside I did a computer generated sentiment that reads...Happy Birthday and Happy Trails to you.....

March has a lot of birthdays in it for me so got started today making cards. This one is for a special friend whose birthday is on the first of March. Those birthdays in the first few days of the month always seem to sneak up on me, I seem to think I have more time to make the card and get it sent off.

I used my Imagine and the Best Friends cart for most of this card. I LOVE LOVE being able to match my paper with my die cut and the best thing about the imagine is that it resizes the design in the paper to fit the size of the paper as you can see in the 2x2 squares. The plain cardstock is from Core'dinations and the sentiments are stickers *I'm using up the stickers I bought when I first got into scrapping* called stickeroos from Penny Black. This is a waterfall card that I got the instructions on how to make it here.....

Cadence Doing Her Valentines

This is my Great-Niece Cadence *my regular visitors know she is the love of my life*...she was working on her Valentines for her friends. She was "signing" her name to them.

The background paper is Bazzil cardstock in a pale pink. The pattern paper is from Me& M Big Ideas, the Modern Malin collection. The middle heart is cut from the stock image on the Cricut Imagine and filled in with a pattern from Nursery Tails Cartridge. The Valentines are her actual Valentines. The small hearts on the left side are stickers from her Valentines and the circles that have the princesses on them are magnets that came with her Valentines. The LO was done from a sketch from Sketch Inspiration #208. I have been using sketches from them lately to jump start my LOs.

M&M's For Mrs. Wirth

My Niece just got married and her husband was deployed a few days after they got married. For their first Valentine's Day as husband and wife he sent her custom M&M's. Betty from over at Betty Bee's Buzz sent me some of these little 1x8" plastic tubes...so I thought I would play around with them and use one to do this LO. The LO is done from a sketch from Sketch Inspiration. I've been using their sketches lately, they seem to get me jump started on a LO. The plain background paper is Core'dinations it is a pale yellow. The pattern paper is Me&My Big Ideas, Modern Milan. The heart is cut at 4"& 5" from the stock shapes on the Cricut Imagine. The Be My Valentine is from "Wild Card" cartridge and then filled with a pattern from the "Nursery Tails" Imagine cartridge.

I received this blog award from my Aussie Friend Alli! Go Check out her blog to see her awesome work and also learn about her. I "met' Alli through the Cricut Message board. I started out by checking out Layouts that were posted in their weekly online newsletter "The Cricut Chirp". In August of 2006 I signed into their community, I had never been on ANY type of message board before and found some awesome friends. I have had the opportunity, mainly because I live near a famous mouse, to meet many of these friends. Although I have never met Alli face to face I can say she is one of my dear friends.

So now to "qualify" to receive this award I was told I need to post 8 things about me and then also post 8 blogs for you to check out.

Here are the 8 things about me.

1. I am a mom to 3 wonderful "grown" sons. My youngest will turn 21 next month, where did the time go? My oldest Matthew is getting married next month, Jonathan is a recent graduate from UF and now works for Pepsi, my youngest Benjamin is in his 3rd year at UCF and also works at BabiesR Us.

2. I have been crafting as long as I can remember. I sew, crochet, scrapbook and many others. My favorite by far is my scrapbooking. I'm the family scrapbooker and I love to preserve the memories for my sons, my many Nieces and Nephews and now my Great-Niece.

3. I have lived in the Central Florida area since 1969,before that my father was in the Navy and we lived in Hawaii, Spain, Charleston and I was born in Oregon.

4. I am the oldest daughter, I have an older brother, 2 younger brothers and a younger sister.

5. I have a milestone :) birthday this year, AGAIN where has the time gone?????

6. I used to work for 7-Eleven as a manager for 12 years, until my inner ear canal ruptured causing me to have ongoing uncontrolled vertigo. I am no longer able to drive due to this. BIG life change but you learn to live life with a new normal.

7. I guess you can say I'm an Internet "junkie". I love keeping up with my friends and family through face book, their blogs, and emails.

I Hope You Dance

This LO is one that I have been wanting to do for a while..I LOVE this picture of my Great-Niece Cadence and when I saw it I thought of the words from LeeAnn Womack's song "I Hope You Dance" ...I Hope you still feel small when you stand beside the Ocean.... Cadence LOVES the beach and LOVES to run in and out of the water...my sister took this picture of her as she was running back out one day...I think it just shows her joy...I LOVE how her hair is blowing in the wind as she was running....

I used Photoshop Eelements to add the words to the photo and then "wave" them....

The pink background paper is Bazzill Cardstock, the blue water paper that is the mat behind the 8X10 picture is from Paper House Productions the pink beach paper i have no idea who makes it. The glitter wire and flower embellishments are from Recollections. The metal flower embellishments are from Adorn-It and the gemstone brads are just some I have had forever.

This is my Great-Niece Cadence. She found a these glasses that a friend of her mommy had left at their house. This picture was taken 1 month before she turns 3. She is such a ham and loves to make faces when she is getting her picture taken.

All the paper and embellishments are from Adorn-it. They were in the May "Busy Women" Scrapbook kit. The red print paper is from the Love Bug Collection, the Stripes and Daisy is from the Whoopys Daisy Collection. The Flowers are cut from the paper and pop-dotted. The background paper is really a light yellow that is bazzill cardstock.

Wooden Valentine's Day Wreath

My Sister-In-Law loves the wooden scalloped wreaths...being that they are on the pricey side...the fact that she has double doors so she would need 2 and that she married into a crafty family... I ended up helping her make them. She first had my brother cut the wreaths out of ply wood, then they were painted red on both sides (the flip side has Christmas on it)... then she turned to me to see if I could do the letters with "My Machine" (my Expression by ProvoCraft).

She wanted the quote "Love Wins" which is the slogan for their teen youth group at church. I cut the hearts from Accent Essentials and Dreams Come True (JasAln1 Icon feature) at 3" and 3.5". The LOVE is cut from Storybook at 4" and the WINS is from Opposites Attract welded on my Design Studio at about 1.15" "pulling" and "stretching" the letters as necessary . The paper is all Bazzile plain cardstock. I put down a layer of Modge Podge then laid down the hearts and letters...3 more coats of Modge Podge and then 3 coats of sealer and they are done!

Marine Life Valentine's Day Card

Over on Paper Patch Crafts they are having a Valentine Challenge....you had to use an amphibian or marine life on it....I learned how to make a sliding card this week over at Splitcoaststampers...so I wanted to play with that card again today so I used the octopus from Life's A Beach Cart...I got the idea from a card made by Robin LeFevre already posted on the challenge....sorry to lift your idea but it was so stinking cute! The background paer is Cloud9Design by Fiskars, the red, white and pink card stock is Bazzile Cardstock, I highlighted with my Signo Uni-ball pen (best white pen ever). The hearts the octopus is holding is pop dotted. The face on the Octopus is from Peachy Keen Stamps Just Baby Faces....

Over at Betty Bee's Buzz they are doing a challenge called "What a Character" go check it out....This is a LO of my older brother and I on our first trip to Disneyland in 1963. Yes I'm the little girl in the stroller. The paper, flower brads and Laugh paperclip is from Adornit Busy Woman Scrapbooking kit. This kit is about 2 years old that I'm just getting around to using. The Mickey Ears that reads Disneyland I made on my SCAL by welding 3 circles together then using "Waltograph" font from Dafont.com I did the Disneyland.

These are two cards I made for two two year olds...One of them is just really getting into talking and her "favorite" princess is Snow White...there are not too many words that she says clearly enough that you can understand what she is saying but says "No White" Clear as day. The Princess Dresses are Jolee's Boutique from Ek Success that I bought about 5 years ago. The background paper is Sandylion again that I have had in my stash for several years. The flowers are primas...the number 2 is cut from DCWV glitter stack paper and cut with my cuttlebug. The Jewels, basket, and animals are all from the dress package. The sentiment is computer generated and printed on a Nestabilites Classic Scalloped Oval. The "crowns" are made from sticker jewels.

My Friend Enfys is having a party over at her blog Going Buggy. I have been following Enfys' blog for a while now, I get so much inspiration from her. For day one of her blog party she asked that we create a card with a bug on it. This is my card.
The cardstock is Bazille, the pattern paper is from Kay& Co, the flower is a Prima. The bee image is on that was in a children's book that several of the pages had gotten torn as I went to throw it away I thought that one would be perfect for a card with an insect on it. I photo copied it once so I could layer it. The wings have glossy accents on them. The sentiment is computer generated. The punch is an EK Sucess Punch.

I did this card for a Challenge over at Paper Patch Crafts.

The challenge was to make a Valentine's Day Card with a Bear on it.

The image was one that came with an issue of PaperCrafts Magazine from the UK.

The technique was decoupaging, where you layer in images in different ways. I wanted to use the bear and then went with non-traditional Valentine colors. The paper is Kay & Co. The card base is bazzill cardstock. The sentiment is handwritten and layered on a Spellbinder Nestibilites Inverted Scalloped Circle

The inside has a computer generated sentiment that reads..."HE LOVES ME"! The trim and lace are all scraps left over from a sewing project.

Stamp Image is A House Mouse stamp that I colored with my Colorbox Fluid Chalk Catseye inks and a water brush.
The Cardstock for the card base is American Crafts Cardstock...I LOVE their cardstock because it does not have the white core...this yellow is from the Tropical Pack....The black layer is also AC Cardstock. I used to buy mine at AC Moore until they closed the one in Orlando I now have to buy online :(. The Yellow pattern paper is from the American Girl Crafts Super Pad (EK Sucess) I got mine at Michael's in the American Girl Craft area. The ribbon is some I have had for several years...I got it at Costco...Don't remember the brand name.

I'm excited about the weekend..My BFF Debbie is coming to town to scrap on Saturday so I'm sure I'll have more updates soon ....

New Year...New Cards

One of my TOP New Year Goals is to Craft more...weather it be cards, layouts, or general craft projects (all which I have a ton that NEED to be done).

The first few days I did not get anything done but then on the 4th I did get some stamped images colored and last night I made 3 cards from those images....

First Card is a House Mouse Stamp Image...
It does not show up in the picture but I got some Martha Stewart White Flocking for Christmas so I dusted that on the snow and the snowball...layering it a bit more on the snowball...
I colored the image with my Colorbox Fluid Chalk Catseye inks and a water brush....
The Image is layered on shiny silver cardstock that I won at a crop about 2 years ago... the ribbon is a scrap...The sentiment is one I got from Art Impressions stamped on white cardstock and layered on blue cardstock...on the inside I computer generated a sentiment that reads...To A New Year...Happy 2011....

Second Card is also a House Mouse Stamped Image...again colored with my Colorbox Fluid Chalk Catseye inks and a water brush....The image is then layered on purple cardstock then layered on paper from DCWV Pocket Full of Posies Paper. The Sentiment is a stamp from Art Impressions stamped on white cardstock then layered on purple cardstock. Inside is blank....

Third Card is another House Mouse Stamp Image ...again colored with my Colorbox Fluid Chalk Catseye inks and a water brush...layered on DCWV Glitter Cardstock....then layered on DCWV Pocket Full Of Posies paper. The sentiment is computer generated......the inside is blank.....

All pretty simple cards for now but a start for my year of crafting.

New Year...New Me????

I keep hearing the Saying..."New Year...New You" whatever that means...sure we all strive to make changes in our life to better ourselves but why just at the "New Year"...One things that I heard recently that has stuck with me is from Dr. Phil...(I know that will turn off some people just by saying his name, but I think the guys says some good stuff)...he said EVERYDAY evaluate your goals and did you do SOMETHING today to bring you closer to your #1 goal..if not evaluate why and make changes tomorrow... and if you find on a daily basis you are not then maybe you should change your #1 goal...I like that and I have a bunch of "good" goals for this year but I am asking myself what is MY #1????

So one of my TOP goals is to craft more...something everyday....everyday so far "something" has come up to keep me from sitting down and doing something...so after hearing Dr. Phil's advice I thought last night at 11 pm I can't do a whole craft but I can START something...so for 15 minutes I colored 3 stamped images...today I will turn those images into cards...but at least I did something and I got a start instead of putting it off for another day...I'm really inspired now :)

MY New "Organized" Workdesk (WOYWW)

This has been a very busy week so not much "crafting" going on. I have been trying to make 12 Halloween cards for 2 weeks now. I finally have everything put away in my new craftspace. It is one thing to clean and organize your scraproom and it is another to pack and move EVERYTHING. Things got sorted into new places so now when I go to find something I have to look in about 10 places until I find it. So while it is "more organized" it is not where it "used to be"....

My 13 year old niece Sarina participated in The Iron Kids National that was held in St. Petersburg, FL. She did her first one in May and qualified to particapte in the National one. There were 552 kids ranging from 5 to 15 years old. They are broken into 3 divisions and their swim, bike, run distances are basied on their division. Her division was the Senior Division and her distances were 300 yard swim, 8 mile bike, and 2 mile run. Her time was 54.27, she was first in her age for Florida and 17 in her division. It was a fun weekend cheering her on and watching the other kids. You can see the sign I made her on my desk. I'm happy to sit on the sideline and cheer her on, take picture and scrap her pages....I think she does enough exercise for the both of us....

I'm in the process of moving so here is my "desk"...but I do have my new Imagine machine set up on the dining room table along with other of my scrapbook goodies and tools so I have basically taken over the table...I have done a lot of downsizing this last year preparing for this move...I went from a 4 bedroom house to a 1 bedroom ( empty nest time)....When people heard I was moving and I would not have a "scrap room" they said what are you going to do with your scrap stuff...haha nothing with it but I sure did a lot of downsizing of my other stuff...so basically it took all of 5 minutes to move my "stuff" and 5 days to pack and move my scraproom! NO kidding there! So read on down a bit to see my creations with my new Imagine....

After running errands today and getting house chores done I was finally able to sit again a play with my New Imagine...more getting to know this machine....so the card took longer than if I had just cut from colored card stock but most of the time was learning about RGB numbers and looking on the Internet at charts to pick the "right" colors....I see I need to find me a RGB color chart....the second learning curve was understanding the difference between what true and relative size...IMHO the manual is confusing and did not explain it "right" but then again it could be how I interpreted it....The manual reads in Relative mode, which sizes images to the key height character in your text and True mode, which sizes images independent of any other image. So I wanted to cut out a paper doll and I thought that like on the other machines if your set the true size at the size that your doll is then it will be the same.....not so!!!! If your paper doll is 4 inches then both numbers will read 4 inches....but then you have to set each piece so the relative number reads 4 inches...so as an example the pumpkin outfit I cut out read 1.5 True and 4.0 Relative.......then dummy me FORGETS to write down the RGB numbers of the "skin" color, etc before I turned off the machine!!!!....I see I need to get a notebook just for RGB favorite colors....OH and one last thing...I forgot to take out my carts before I turned off my machine so they were still in when I turned it back on....when I went to edit my pumpkin outfit it would go back through the setting up screen...so I guess it is important to turn on the machine without any carts in it and then install the Imagine cart first then the old cricut cart....b/c once I turned it back off took out the carts and did it "right" then it worked fine.....Hope my learning "errors" help you enjoy your new machine...or maybe this post is making me look DUMB! :{

The Girl, Hair Pumpkin outfit, Shoes, Tights, and Trick or Treat Bag were all from white paper that I "colored" with the Imagine.... so just 1 mat....and 1 piece of paper....the cuts are very "smooth" too...(no white core "boogers") The background paper is from a pack I bought today at Target in the $1 section, 8 halloween sheets for $1.

Okay so here's the deal.....I've been really good this year working on getting my debt paid off...to stay on track I have had to GREATLY reduce my scrapbook budget...GOOD THING! Because when Provo Craft had their HSN debut of the new Imagine machine I knew I had to have that machine...I watched and watched each demo....called a few friends...enabled them to buy it then finally took to plunge and ordered it.....:) ...It came this last Monday..I got to play for about an hour and got frustrated because I knew I needed more time to study the instructions...so the rest of the week was busy and tonight was the first chance I got to REALLY play with it and I can say.....I'm SOoooo GLAD I BOUGHT IT!!!!!......When I was coming up with reasons to convince myself why I needed it...being able to add coordinating print to my letters and words was one reason that sold me on it...but on the other hand I told myself I could just the letters out on printed paper....well after playing with it I am so convinced I did the right thing...because it adjust the size of the print to fit the size you are cutting out.....you will see what I mean in this card I made...the background print the flowers, cats and dogs are bigger then look at the cupcakes and you will see the print adjusted...if I had cut out cupcakes that small on my printed paper the design would not have shown up like this did.....

Both Completed Albums

Josh and Cadence

It has been fun making this album, I've learned even more about my mom's side of the family. She has spent the last 6 months going over these documents getting everyone straight that she is now on a first name basis with them...me not yet but I'm getting there....My second couin served in the Army during WWII...so it has been my honor to make this album for him and his family...My nephew was home this last two weeks on leave...he is in the Army and is headed to Iraq in the next two weeks...He is just 6 months younger than my middle son and like a son to me...a bit of my heart went with him. A friend of mine has her own photography studio and she took these photos of him with his daughter (my great-niece), Cadence.

Well sort of...I still have a few more things on several pages to finish but for the most part it is done...the last few pages have been some of my favorites....guess it is just my American Pride....my mom's cousin that the book is for landed on Utah Beach during WWII so my mom knew she wanted to do some military pages...we started out with the ancestors that were in the civil war and ended with my nephew and cousin that are serving now...we also included their daughters who are doing their part by sharing their daddy's time with us all....

Not much new this week on my workdesk...still all the piles that were on my desk last week....and we are still living with all the tables...I got a "bug" this week and spent most of it in bed with a screaming headache finally I'm feeling better and ready to get back to scrapping so we can gt this project done this weekend!

It was funny all the comments that I got about my middle son sitting at his laptop without a shirt on. I was taking pictures that night and my mom and son both said "Don't take a picture of me". So I did the best I could to get the "scrapping mess" without them in the picture....When I told him he had about as many comments on his shirtlesness that I had on my project he laughed. Yes that's my son Jon.

This last one is a pocket page that i made....it is a mix of papers put together..My Mom's cousin, that this book is for, is going to be 90 the end of August. He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day. This pocket is to hold info about Utah Beach and D-Day for future generations.

A Bit of family history that my mom just found out about on Ancestry.com. She came across an old census (1880 I think) that listed an Aunt that my mom knew only as "Aunt Dolly"...come to find out this Aunt was a Great-Aunt that was born on the fourth of July...her real legal name was Fourthie Independance!Yeah family history is fun! :)

My baby Petie is feeling alittle left out these days.....

This Heritage Album seems to have taken on a life of it's own...My mom and I have "lived" with these people for about 6 months now....People I hardly knew just by their names I now know who is who and who belongs to who 5 generations back....My mom has been doing the research, getting old census, marriage license, birth records, military records, death certificates etc...then 4 weeks ago I started scrapping the Heritage Album...it has grown past my scrap room...we are now living with a folding table in the middle of the dining room floor....the dining room table is mostly covered, the table in my scrap room is covered and the desk in the family area is covered....I have now gotten 33 pages done in the 4 weeks. My mom, that lives 2 miles from me, has moved in to help with chores so I can focus my "free" time on this....since the dead line to get it sent out is the 10th of August (it is for her cousin's 90th birthday). I've learned a lot about my history and a lot about the country along the way too.....we have gotten a lot of laughs also....It has been a ton of work but I've enjoyed it and so glad that we did this while my mom is still around to keep who is who straight...if I was doing this on my won I would have gotten so frustrated and given up loooooooog ago.......but now it is done and will be easy to duplicate for others in the family....I also think it is now time to get my nieces addicted to scrapping so I'm not the only scrapper in the family....Scroll down jsut past the fishing card to see the pages I have already done....

In the middle of my Heritage scrapping...I took a break and made a crd for my brother's birthday...this brother's motto is "Let's fish 5 days and work 2". I had bought this cut file from "MyScrapChick.com" awhile back with the intention of using it for him or other's in my family that fish". The tag on the front says: "For the Days when the Fish Don't Bite" and on the inside is a Gift Card to Outback.

WOYWW~ Heritage Album

I am working on a Heritage Album at the request of my mom (I'm the only one in the family that scraps) for her Cousin's 90th birthday that is in mid August. We just started 2 weeks ago and to assist me to get this done in time my Mom has moved in with me even though she only lives less than 2 miles away. LOL

I have 17 pages done and 8 more in various stages of being done, My Mom retired last year and has been doing family research, she is continuing to search on some family members/branches so I am not finilizing my pages until I know she has everything she wants on them. I made a Heritage Album last year for a cousin that was getting married and my mom would ask..."how hard is it to get this up" so she could add more to it.

This is the first page that we are putting in every Heritage album...to us it says what we feel as to the importance of doing this....This is the only page I have scanned at this time...I will post more as I scan them....

I LOVE The PaperCraft Inspirations Magazine. It is from the UK and cost a bit more but what I get from it justifies the cost for me. There is always a "free" gift and ideas how to use them. One of my favorite subjects to scrap is my Great-Niece Cadence. Cadence is the first of the next generation. Her Grandmother, my sister, is 10 years younger than I am so she was "my baby". Her Father is in the army, Josh is 6 months younger than my middle son. They were joined at the hip growing up so he is like a son to me. It is fun watching her grow, I see my sister and my nephew in her. One of the things she likes is to have her nails painted. When they are painted she will run up to people and say see my "prettys". I knew I wanted to get a picture of her tiny painted toes and make a LO for her book.

Just my little bit of heaven in Sunny Florida.

This is my scrapping space. I started out with just a basket working on my kitchen table and would have to clean up everytime I was done so we could use the table to eat. I was then given a desk and that made way to my own "space". It is tucked into a corner of our Florida Room. It is in a common area of the house so a lot of "stuff" gets piled on it, mostly by me to be sorted or filed somewhere else. So I usually have to start out by cleaning off my desk so I can scrap. Right now I'm working on a project for a little friend of mine that is moving to TX. I have known her since she was born and she is now 3.5. They don't have family here so I know they will never be back to visit. I'm going to miss her! :(. This is a 8x8 album of memories from her first three years.

Yes my cat, Alice, does sleep on my scrapping chair so I do have to move her when I want to scrap. The racks on the wall that hold my plain colored cardstock was a "find" that I got for $5 when ACMoores closed. I got 2 of them and would have bought more if I had the wall space for them. I like having things close by so my desk may look cluttered but I know where everything is and it works just fine for me.

I've been getting back in the swing of scrapping, this is from a little 8X8 album that I am making. The cuts..."Laugh" and the little girls are from "A Child's Year". I have been using that cart a lot in this project. The picture of the girls running is printed twice then the girls are cut from one and then pop-dotted. This is the frist time I have used this technique and I am really likeing how it came out.

This my Niece Sarina, she participated in the IronKids that was held out at Ft. Wilderness on May 15, 2010. This is her first time to participate in an IronKids. She placed 2nd in her age group which qualifies her to participate in Nationals in October. I am so proud of her. I used "base camp" for the font and cut off the little tabs. I wanted to match the font on the IronKids and that was the closes thing I had. In the middle LO some of the potos are "pop-dotted" I was trying to creat a flow of her corse and use as many pics as I could without it being "cluttered" I liek how it came out.

Heritage Album

My second cousin got married on the 18 of July. This is the heritage album that I made her at my mom's request. Except for about 5 of the pages all were made in about a weeks time. I even stayed up the WHOLE night before the wedding to get everything done my mom wanted in the album. I work well under pressure lol and I slept the whole way down in the car. It was a beautiful wedding.On Facebook I posted detailed notes as to who everyone is and the papers used. My Aunt died in a tragic accident when her boys were young, this is her granddaughter that got married. Half way through making the album it dawned on me why this was so important to my mom, she was giving her great-niece the family history that her sister was not able to give. I have seen many of these pictures growing up but I never knew the stories behind them. I am so glad that I was able to do this with my mom and hear her tell the stories of her childhood growing up. I even learned this week that my mom's oldest sister's name is Nora!!! NEVER knew that! After my mom started bringing things over I realized it is my destiny to be a scrapper! Some of the "stuff" my mom had and some she got from her mother's house after she passed away! So I come from a long line of memorbilia keepers! In the album the only document that we had to send away for was the marriage certificate of my Aunt & Uncle!!!

I am having fun with the WC & HK carts. This one is the "all tied up" card. I had to use CDS to "stretch" it to be tall enough, to fit lengthwise I had to set it at 2.5" but that was not tall enough for my card! Kitty is cut at 8". I used a glue dot on the inside by the ribbon to keep the ribbon with the card.

I have three people who have birthday's on April 19. This is the card that I made for them.
The flowers are cut from G&BS then run thru the cuttlebug swiss folder. The "Happy" and "Birthday" brads I got from Oriental Trading Co. The date stamp is a CTMH stamp set that I got as a Christmas gift from Sue. The "stems" are sewn. The flower pot was hand cut.

My 11 Year Old Niece goes away to sleep over camp every summer. She writes letters to everyone in the family during the time she is gone. She always looks forward to getting my letters to see the "neat" card that I have made just for her. I told my SIL that I would make her note cards this year to send back to family. I sat down one Saturday afternoon with some "Bitty Pads" of paper that I got in a SS swap that I never have used and my folder of old stickers and this is what I came up with. Over the next few days I kept making them as I was having fun. I have a nephew in boot camp and I am sending him some to send back to family members. In all I think I have made 60 so far.

This is my Great-Niece Cadence's first Christmas. She ahs the most beautiful blue eyes so my mom made her dress to bring out the color of her eyes. My sister (Cadence's Grandmother) took the pictures. Grandma is blowing bubbles at Cadence but by the way she is holding her mouth it looks like she is the one blowing bubbles.

This is a LO that I did of my Great-Niece Cadence. I love this picture of her, looks like she is hard at work studying the world around her. She has the most beautiful blu eyes, (Just like her daddy).

The Cricut carts that I used were George for the heart, BC for those and Blues, and OA & CDS for baby.

The paper is from a stack of My Mind's Eye.
Embellishments are buttons & lace.

This is a little friend of mine. She loves to play dress up right now. She was dressed in her Belle dress. Her bear is named Raaraa, he is her constant companion She was dancing in my yard and I caught her in mid twirl.

The Bell and Beast is from DCT cut at 5". The Letters are from SB and Jasmine, I welded them together on CDS. The frame around "Just Dance" and the photo corner are both from SB also. I used stickled on them both and the letters. The flower background paper is from a stack and the blue lace looking paper is from DaisyD.
